Season Two Introduction

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the introductory post to Season Two of Gabinston’s Pop Reviews! I first launched this blog in October of 2019, and over the past fifteen months, I have put out the following lists:

  • Fall 2019 Top 20 Ranking

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2019

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2010

  • Winter 2020 Top 20 Ranking

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2014

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2001

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2017

  • Spring 2020 Top 20 Ranking

  • Best Hit Songs of 1992

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2008

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2012

  • Best Hit Songs of 1983

  • Summer 2020 Top 20 Ranking

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 1995

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2016

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2004

  • Best Hit Songs of 1987

  • Fall 2020 Top 20 Ranking

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 1998

  • Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2020

These are the lists that I will retroactively dub Season One, and any lists between now and the Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2021 list will be Season Two, complete with a new font. For this upcoming season, I have set the following objectives:

  • First and foremost, I want to complete the 2010s. The remaining 2010s years that I have yet to cover are 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2018. However, I will not be doing the years chronologically, as my plan is to do 2011, 2018, 2013 and 2015 in that order. I may at some point do a Best and Worst List for the 2010s, but that would require A LOT of work, so it’s still up in the air.

  • I will do at least one year from the 2000s, 1990s and 1980s this year, and I’m looking at possibly doing a year from the 1970s (likely from the latter half of the decade), although that isn’t certain by any means.

  • I’m planning on taking a month off in March, as well as possibly slowing down the pace of my content, as I am getting a little bit burnt out after over a year of pumping out content left and right. Still, my plan is to get out around 10 sets of Best/Worst lists this year (in comparison to 15 last year).

  • While I was thinking of eliminating seasonal rankings entirely, I have decided to continue them, although I may move from every three months to every four months, I’ll decide after the Winter 2021 Ranking that will be coming in a few weeks.

  • I will conclude Season Two with the Best/Worst Hit Songs of 2021, although that is still a ways off.

Either way, Happy New Year, and welcome to Season Two!
